Mary Ann Harris, 78, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. 

Mary Ann was born on August 7, 1946 in Yukon, West Virginia to the late William Andrew Dykes, Sr. and Eva Elizabeth (Hayes) Dykes. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert "Bobby" Dykes, Ronald P.K. Dykes, Donald S.F. Dykes, Lawrence Douglas Dykes, William R. Dykes, Jr. and Harold S. Dykes. 

She was a 1964 graduate of Excelsior High School in War, West Virginia. Mary Ann graduated in 1996 from McKendree College with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She worked and retired from Reynolds Metals after 26 dedicated years. Mary Ann was an excellent pianist playing both by music as well as by ear. She has played for various churches in and around the Lexington and Louisville areas. Once she made her permanent move to Louisville, her journey led her to R.E. Jones UMC which became a part of Mosaic during the merger of five churches in 2002. She was also a member of Metropolitan Gospel Music Connection (MGMC), a community choir with membership in the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, founded by the late Dr. Thomas Dorsey.

In June of 2003, Mary Ann was ordained a Diaconal Minister in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church with music as her chosen ministry. In addition to her music ministry, Mary Ann has been a teacher, preacher, motivator, mentor and a prayer warrior for God. She exemplified a life in Christ! 

Mary Ann is survived by her loving children, Lisa Cherrell Avant (Gregory), Christopher Andrew Harris (Kelly); grandchildren, Aleigha, Jasmine, Christopher, Jordan, Isaiah; great-grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alaysia, Aubree, Avah and Amiyah. She is also survived by her siblings, Doris E. Russell (Terra), Raymond A. Dykes (Charlotte), Kenneth A. Dykes (Charlene) and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, most notably her beloved, Che'Ara Dykes. 

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the celebration of life service at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Mosaic United Methodist Church (8008 St Andrews Church Rd, Louisville, KY 40258). 

The family requests that contributions in Mary Ann’s memory be made to the donors choice of charity.
