Mary H. Cook, age 78 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and regularly attended Bible study and Sunday school. She retired from Jefferson County Public Schools, having worked as an Instructional Assistant at St. Matthews, Greathouse and Chenoweth Elementary Schools. She was a talented wood carver and enjoyed gardening, vacationing with family and researching her family's genealogy.
Left to cherish memories of her are her children, Thomas B. Cook, III (Julie) and Cathy Grant; five grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah and Eli Cook, and Adrian and Millie Grant; and two sisters, Ann Burton (Richard) and Betty Harley. She is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
Mary will reunite with those who preceded her, including her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Thomas B. Cook, Jr; her parents, Martin Tyler Hoskinson and Virginia McCormick; her step-father, Rev. Edward McCormick; and her sister, Jinny Rudd and brother, Bill Hoskinson.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7pm Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243.
A Memorial Service will be at 3pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 9104 Westport Rd, Louisville, KY 40242. Interment will be at Elizabethtown Cemetery, Elizabethtown, Kentucky on a date to be determined.
