Mary Helen (Kasse) Blunk

Mary Helen (Kasse) Blunk, 93, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She deeply loved her family and friends. Mary Helen stayed active throughout her life, playing cards and bingo, and was an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers. She never turned down a good Manhattan or shied away from sharing her vocal talent.

She was born on June 19, 1927, in Sellersburg, Indiana, to Charles and Matilda (Zipp) Kasse. In addition to her parents, Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Bud" Blunk; five brothers; one sister; and her beloved dog, Pepper.

Mary Helen is survived by her children, Rebecca "Becky" Pitts (Steve), Robert Blunk (Karen), and Barbara Smith (Mickey); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Katherine Waters.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Saturday after 8:30 a.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Campus, 2605 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with entombment to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
