Baker,
Mary Emma, 76, formerly of Middlesboro, passed away on Thursday, March 24, at St. Matthews Manor in Louisville, KY. She was born on February 18, 1935 in Sterling, Tennessee to the late Ernest and Leona Robinson. She was married for thirty-five years to Jack Baker, who preceded her in death on February 7, 1991. She lived most of her life in Middlesboro where she raised five children with a home full of songs, laughter, books, and worship. For many years, she served the class of "God's Angel" at First Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Agape Circle. She also worked in the nursery at Covenant United Methodist Church. She moved to Louisville in 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff Baker of Evanston, Illinois and Jack Baker of Louisville Kentucky; three daughters, Robin Proffitt of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Rhonda Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and Sarah Baker of Knoxville, Tennessee; one son-in-law, Roger Proffitt of Sugar Hill, Georgia; four grandchildren, Ryan and Travis of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Marydith Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and Emma Earls of Knoxville, Tennessee; one sister, Lavelle Body of Cincinnati, Ohio, two brothers, Bill and John Robinson of Middlesboro; plus an abundance of beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. All who wish to celebrate the life of Mary Emma Baker are invited to attend a memorial service Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the TEL chapel in the First Baptist Curch of Middlesboro.
