Martha "Annie" Rough, age 85 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Norton Hosparus Inpatient Unit at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion.
Annie was a retired homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother to four children, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a member of St Albert the Great church in Louisville, KY, St. John the Apostle Catholic church in Brandenburg, KY and a graduate of Southern High School in Louisville, KY.
She met the love of her life and husband, Porky, of 44 years roller skating at Fountain Ferry Park. Camping and trips to Florida with her family were always a highlight for her, so much so that she and Porky became snowbirds when they became empty nesters. She probably never knew that she would become a farmer's wife but she did when they moved to Brandenburg, KY in 1976 and grew to love the farm they built together. She was a loving "dog mom" to Toto, Buster, Mandy, Lexie and the current "littles" Bandit & Patches.
We will miss seeing her and celebrating holidays with her. We will love and cherish her memory forever in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hearl "Porky" Rough; parents, Elva and Bill Kerns; and her brother, John "Tootie" Kerns.
Annie is survived by her children, Louis Rough, Sherry Rough, Tessie Bennett (Rick) and David Rough; sister, Helen Henry; grandchildren, Aaron McMackin, Chad Bennett and Christy Hiser (Jason); great-grandchildren, Carter, Payton, Aaron Javier and Presley; and a host of relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243 and on Saturday, September 23rd from 9:30am to time of Mass, 11am at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1395 Girard Drive Louisville, KY 40222. Burial will follow at 2:30pm in St. George Cemetery, Brandenburg, Kentucky.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus who were so caring and loving to her in her final days (HosparusHealth.org).
