Martha Myers

Martha L. (Perkins) Myers, 80, of Clarksville, Indiana passed away at her home surrounded by family on April 9, 2014.

Martha was born on December 26, 1933 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late Robert & Annie (Smith) Perkins. She was a retired driver with the Clarksville School System. When her children were young, she was very active in the PTA, serving in many capacities, including President. She was also a member of Colgate Baptist Church and she loved and trusted God with all her heart. A passion for her was the Token Club of Clark County where she served many years as President and also as a board member. She sponsored and mentored numerous people as they worked to achieve and maintain sobriety, it was a gift she shared freely and openly. She also enjoyed her "Tuesday Group" of friends from Georgetown High. But her real love was her family. She delighted in the very loud gatherings that were commonplace in her home.

She is survived by her children, Karen Cole, her caregiver, Leslie (Deeni) Taylor, Kristie Myers (Joey Homans), Neil Myers, John (Christa) Myers and Ronnie Myers, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren; and her beloved sister, Evelyn Hash. Along with her parents, and brothers, Robert Perkins, Allen Perkins and Charles Perkins, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lester Myers; and son, David Myers.

The family is especially grateful to everyone with Gentiva Hospice, especially her caring nurse Amy Headley and the family friends who helped in keep her comfortable in her home, Alyssa and Gabbie

Visitation will be from 10 to 4 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN). Funeral Services will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm the funeral home with burial to follow at Edwardsville Cemetery in Georgetown, Indiana.
