Martha Ann Lucas

Martha Ann Lucas, age 82 of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. First and foremost, Martha was a strong Christian and a woman of deep faith throughout her entire life. She served in a variety of ways in the church, as a Sunday school and VBS teacher, choir member, librarian, and junior worship leader. In her later years when she was not able to leave her home, she spent time sending cards and words of encouragement to family and friends and was always thinking of others. Martha was a loving wife for 59 years, mother of two boys, and she adored her four grandchildren. She worked as a schoolteacher in Virginia and Kentucky. She was a passionate bibliophile (book lover), and enjoyed cooking, music, crafts, family genealogy, and watching sports (especially the Kentucky Wildcats!). She was born on January 31, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky. Martha is preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Martha Solley; and son, David.

Martha is survived by her loving husband, Glenn Lucas; son, Scott (Jennifer); brother, William Solley (Anna); grandchildren Tyler, Ashley and Christopher Lucas, and Caitlin Reuter and many other wonderful family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023, and from 10:00-11:00 am Friday, August 11, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky, with a celebration of Martha's life there at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

Martha's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.

The family requests that contributions in Martha's memory be made to Hikes Point Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky.
