Martha (Kruer) Schmidt

Martha (Kruer) Schmidt, 84, of Starlight, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Mercy-Providence Retirement Home in New Albany. Martha was a farmer and life-long member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight.
She was born on September 19, 1928 in Floyds Knobs, Indiana to the late George Sr. and Eleanor (Sunderhaus) Kruer. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Edward "Butch" Kruer, Sr., Virginia Andres, Ambrose Kruer, Sr., Marcella Andres, Jude Kruer, and Shirley Cooley.
Martha is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edwin "Smitty" Schmidt; children, Daniel A. Schmidt (Sharon), Ellarae M. Hutchison (Roy), Nancy L. Tanner, Edwin "Pat" Schmidt, Jr.; siblings, Irma Bierman, Norma Johns, Bonnie Huber, George Kruer, Jr.; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM Friday, March 8, 2013, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A Rosary Service will be at 3 PM Friday. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (8310 St. John's Road, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119).
