Martha E. "Aunt Mike" (Rudy) Flanagan, 99, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She resided in New Albany and had lived a large portion of her life in Lauderdale By the Sea, Florida. She retired as the executive secretary at Colgate Palmolive in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in 1972 and moved to Florida where she loved the ocean and being a realtor for decades. She was a proud member of the Elks Lodge #270 in Indiana. Martha attended Holy Family Catholic Church in New Albany and enjoyed spending time with family, eating out, shopping, and playing cards.
Martha was born in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, on October 29, 1919, to the late George and Mary (Aust) Rudy. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Cleo (Rudy) Wilt, Bernice (Rudy) Jones, and Jean, Jacob, Irvin, and Lemerle Rudy; and nephew, Randall Rudy.
She is survived by her niece, Cheryl "Cheri" (Wilt) Harshey (Don), and their children, Corey Harshey (Jo Ellen) and Vincent Harshey (Amy); nephew, Darryl Wilt (Kathy), and their children, Jeremy Wilt (Lisa), Christopher Wilt (Stephanie), and Shalon Wilt Murphy (Patrick); nephews, Robert Rudy, Stephen Rudy (Janie), Thomas Rudy (Cindy), Dale Rudy (Bea), Keith Rudy (Janet), Patrick Rudy (Kathy), John Rudy (Tammy), David Jones (Izzy),
and Dan Jones; nieces, Beverly McDonald, Mary Ann Conrad (Sam), Barbara Richards, Kathleen Mayfield (Larry), Theresa Worrall (John), Linda Welch (Chris), Diane Cecil (Scott), Carolyn Craig (Eric), Luanne Grant (Donnie), and Laura Roberson (David).
A celebration of her 100th year of birth will be on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service by the Elks Lodge #270 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150). Cremation was chosen according to Martha's wishes.
