Martha Lavon Delaney

Martha (Cecil) DeLaney, age 81 of Goshen, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Martha was born on May 26, 1942 to Pearl Mae and Thomas Wesley Cecil. Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and sharing meals with family and friends. She actively pursued many hobbies throughout her life including sewing, knitting, crocheting, and various other arts and crafts. In addition to playing cards and board games, Martha also enjoyed traveling and was always ready at a moment's notice for a new adventure. In addition to raising her family, Martha was a retail associate for nearly 60 years at various department stores in the Louisville area. She also volunteered her time in the activities department at a local nursing facility. Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin "Bob" DeLaney, four siblings, and parents.

Martha is survived by her son, Mark DeLaney (Deborah); and daughter, Kelly DeLaney-Babichuk (Thomas); along with her five grandchildren, Kaelly Sidebottom (Travis), Hannah Jonason, Sophia Babichuk, Addison DeLaney, Patience DeLaney; one great-grandson, Flynn Sidebottom; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 3 to 5pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243, with a celebration of Martha's life at 5pm.
