Mark Timothy Wittmer, 65, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. Mark was a passionate historian and astronomer. His passion for History found an outlet in Civil War reenactments, which led to his playing an extra in the movies "North & South Book II" and "Glory." Mark was an avid reader, writer, and polymath. A graduate of Bishop David High School, Mark went on to work for and retire from Hazelwood Hospital, where he was a behaviorist working with special needs adults. He spent 23 years as a Co-Owner of Valley Liquors, where he found his extended family.
He was born on January 2, 1957 in Louisville, Kentucky to Timothy and Mary "Pat" Wittmer. He is preceded in death by his Parents, his beloved Aunt & Uncle, Katie & Tom Beaudette, and Brother, Jeffrey Wittmer.
Mark is survived by his Daughter, Brittanie Wittmer; Son, Josh Wittmer; former wife and most beloved friend Wanda Raymond Wittmer; Grandchildren, Dylan Wittmer, and Abbigail Wittmer; Siblings, Steven (Stacey) Wittmer, Michelle "Cheli" (Mark) Linker, Scott Wittmer, Robin Beaudette, all of Louisville and Suzanne West of Panama City, Florida. Mark also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-Laws, Friends, and Extended Family.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, his beloved brother-in-law, Charles Raymond, officiating.
The family requests that contributions in Mark's memory be made to Dare To Care or the Autism Society of America.
