On September 1, 2023, Mark Lincoln Miller, 69, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Mark loved the outdoors and early that beautiful sunny morning the window by his bedside was opened and with a gentle breeze he was ushered into heaven.
Mark was born and raised in Louisville and grew up in Anchorage where he carried so many beautiful childhood memories with close family and friends. He spoke often with his sisters about the wonderful childhood they shared. They took frequent drives back to their old neighborhood together reminiscing about their happy, carefree childhood.
He was an accomplished thoroughbred trainer (retired) and followed in his father's footsteps in the horse racing and breeding industry. He loved his profession and through his love of animals his passion for thoroughbreds began at age 11 when he learned the intricacies of breeding and racing with his father by his side. His impeccable horsemanship led him to the position of
training a Tampa Bay Derby winner which placed his horse for a run in the Kentucky Derby. This was his most cherished accomplishment as a trainer.
Mark was a kind and generous man who was loved by many in his industry and then later in his family real estate business. His first priority was his family and above all he loved dearly his son, Christian. He loved and spent quality time with his sisters, his nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews who continued to give him great joy in his last days.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Lincoln Miller, his mother Ruth Mary Miller, sister Anne Gilbert, and brother Lin Miller.
He is survived by his son, Christian Miller (Ashley), sisters Mimi Scofield (Rocky) and Caroline Schneider (Mike), nephews, Mike Perryman (Erin), Jacob Schneider (Autumm), L J Miller (Jennifer), Stephen Miller, nieces Katie Roy (Jason), Morgan Gilbert-Newlove (Snowden), Cory Gilbert, Jordan Hurst, and Cindy Miller (Lin's widow), and several grand nieces and nephews.
Mark had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor, much like his father and brother who predeceased him. He was generous, loyal and brave. He was uncompromising as he pursued a life that would honor his upbringing and the invaluable legacy of his parents. Mark will be remembered for his deep love of family and his huge and generous heart.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Friday, September 8, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, KY 40243), with a celebration of Mark's life to follow at 3:30 PM.
