Marjorie Anne Sangalli, 95, went to heaven on August 24, 2022. She was born on February 17, 1927 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, to Marguerite and Sidney Targonski. Marjorie attended and graduated from Pekin High School in Pekin, IN where she was voted Modern Miss. After high school she worked as a cosmetologist in Louisville, KY. She met her husband John while he was visiting her family's farm in Palmyra, Indiana. Marjorie and John married in 1951 at Saint Stephen Martyr Catholic Church in Louisville. She was a homemaker devoted to raising her two children and in addition, she worked at the family mushroom farm. She was a talented artist and craftswoman who was an accomplished basketmaker. She also enjoyed spinning wool and for several years she competed on a Sheep to Shawl team at the Kentucky State Fair. Later in life she relished the time making donuts and creating crafts with her two granddaughters. Marjorie also loved growing beautiful flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, watching the koi in her fish pond, boating and fishing with the family.
Marjorie leaves behind to cherish her memory; her best "buddy" and husband John of 71 years; her two children, Paula Smith (Robert) Shelbyille, KY; and John Sangalli (Schoen) Jeffersonville, IN; granddaughters Bianca and Gina Sangalli; and cherished great-grandchildren Pax and Rio; as well as a host of other relatives and friends who will all miss her very much.
The family would like to thank the CBC group, especially her beloved physician Dr. Ignacio Montes, and all the wonderful caring members of Lighter Hearts Home Care. Special thanks to family friend Susan Heim who went above and beyond to help with cleaning and chores during our time of need.
