**In Loving Memory of Mario D. Wilkins**
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mario D. Wilkins, age 51, who departed from this world on September 17, 2024, in his beloved hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Mario was a pillar of strength and love—a devoted father, treasured son, adoring pawpaw, cherished brother, nurturing cousin and loyal friend. His five years of dedicated service as a Communication Specialist in the United States Marine Corps speaks volumes of his character and commitment to duty. Outside of his professional life, Mario found joy in the simplicity of family gatherings, the thrill of sports—especially cheering for the San Francisco 49ers and the University of Louisville Cardinals—and the camaraderie of playing cards and dominoes. His vibrant spirit and infectious laughter illuminated every room, and he was undeniably the life of every party.
Born on December 30, 1972, Mario was a beloved son to Linda (Hicks) Wilkins. He rejoins in eternal peace his grandmother, Mary V. Wilkins, and his granddaughter, Toni Rae, both of whom he held dear in his heart.
Mario's legacy lives on through his wife, Seannise Wilkins; his devoted mother, Linda Wilkins; and his cherished children—Khadijah, Korey (Carrissa), Erika, Trae'Von, Elyijah, Emonee, and Khamari. He is also survived by his brother, Gregory (Stephanie Grant) Jackson, and two precious granddaughters, Jerrionah Jones and Winnie Wilkins. The warmth of his memories will forever be embraced by his uncle, James L. Wilkins, and aunt, CeeCee Wilkins.
To celebrate Mario's life, visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Hwy. A funeral service will commence at 12:30 p.m. at the same location, followed by his burial at Kentucky Veteran Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
Friends and family are encouraged to share memories of Mario or leave heartfelt messages for his family in the guestbook provided below.
Mario D. Wilkins will forever remain in our hearts—a true friend, a loving family man, and a vibrant soul who will be dearly missed.
