Marilyn Ann Vratsolis, affectionately known as "Yia Yia", born on October 22, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 12, 2025, in the same beloved city. She is remembered as a survivor with unwavering strength. Marilyn's journey through life was filled with many obstacles but with grit and determination she carried on.
She is survived by her sons, Albert Barnes, Jr. (Cindy), John Barnes, Michael Barnes, Robert A. Barnes (Caroline), William P. Barnes (Cindy), Jack Barnes (Gary) Scott Barnes (Angie), and her daughters, Janet Goodner, Nancy Mullican, Kathy Berry (Mike), along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through this vibrant tapestry of family, all of whom carry her spirit and love in their hearts.
Marilyn's passing marks a poignant moment, as she has finally reunited with Pete A. Vratsolis, the love of her life, fulfilling her wish to be with him once more. The bond they shared was one of deep affection and partnership, a relationship that stood the test of time and continues to inspire all who knew them.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 16, 2025, at the Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. The service will commence at 9:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM, honoring the cherished moments Marilyn spent with her loved ones and the warmth she brought into their lives.
