Marilyn Jean Travis

Marilyn Jean Travis, 82, passed away on April 30, 2022. She opened Suburban Florist in 1969 and later acquired Hedman's Florist in 1979, which is known as Hedman's Suburban Florist. Marilyn proudly served the community and her loyal customers for 53 years with her talents in floral designing and decorating. She had a passionate, kind, loving and giving heart for others. Marilyn could always brighten your day with her smile.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James "Bub" and Flossie Lewis; brother, Leon Lewis; sister, Geneva Hockett and her best friend, Betty Hudson.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 36 years, Mark Giles; sons, Brian (Kim) Travis and Gary (Lora) Travis; grandchildren, Savannah Travis and Aaron Travis; the daughter she never had, Cinnamon Young and her children, Samuel, Parker, Daylan and Poppy Rose; sister, Naomi Burden; special friend, Melinda Adams; several nieces. nephews and fur baby, Moses.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY, from 1pm-8pm. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be Monday, May 9, 2022, beginning at 12pm at the funeral home.

Marilyn will be laid to rest at Bethany Memorial Gardens, 10917 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
