Marilyn (Matherly) Fender, 87, of Georgetown, Indiana, entered this life on September 6, 1926, and began eternal life on November 20, 2013. Our sweet mother peacefully passed away on November 20, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church in New Albany and was a former teacher in the New Albany/Floyd County School system educating hundreds of children at Lillian Emery, Green Valley, West Spring Street, Corydon Pike, and Pineview Elementary Schools. A talented musician, she loved to read, play her organ and piano, play bridge, and spend precious quality time with her grandchildren.
Marilyn was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Hartford and Edith (Trent) Matherly. She is survived by her husband, William Fender, Jr.; son, Bill Fender; daughters, Sherry Ackermann (Doug) and Constance "Connie" Baugh (Mike); ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 12 to 2 PM on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.
