Marilyn Coffey, 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born in Phyllisburg, Kentucky on July 31, 1932 to the late James and Violet (Brown) Newton.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was kind and caring and everyone who knew her loved her. Marilyn was also an avid gardener and loved showing off her many flowers, especially her home-grown tomatoes. She was a proud member of Parkway Southern Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and vacation bible study.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Walton Delray Coffey; son, Ronney Coffey; daughter-in-law, Pamela Coffey; sister, Elizabeth Snider; three brothers, Albert, Owen and Billy Newton.
Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Gary (Cathy) Coffey, Jim Coffey, and Mark (Tricia) Coffey; daughter, Lisa Coffey; three granddaughters, Brittany (Michael) Ross, Ashleigh (Chad) Brohm, and Grace Coffey; great-grandchildren, Eliot and Molly Ross and Kinsleigh, Ava, and Isla Brohm; two sisters, Lorene Tucker and Janelle Leisure; and many nieces, nephews and her beloved cat Shadow.
The Coffey Family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Woods and Misty at Southern Care Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Marilyn.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150) and Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 9:00 am until the time of service. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marilyn's memory may be made to Parkway Southern Baptist Church (2508 Corydon Pike, New Albany), Southern Care Hospice Services (3602 Northgate Court, Suite 27, New Albany), or the Alzheimer's Association.
