Marie Roberts, 98, of Louisville, KY met her Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 18, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1926 in Mt. Kisco, NY to Samuel and Ruby (Burnham) Lewis.
Marie graduated from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a degree in education, and joined the Armonk Public School System in 1950, teaching second grade, where she was known as a favorite teacher. Following her marriage to Neil Roberts of New Plymouth, New Zealand and the birth of her sons, Mrs. Roberts and her family in 1964 set out on an adventure of a lifetime. They took a freighter to Mr. Roberts homeland, where they spent just over 4 years, before returning to Armonk. Mrs. Roberts then went back to teaching at the Pleasantville elementary school.
Following Mrs. Roberts retirement in 1985, Mr. and Mrs. Roberts moved to Ocala, Florida, then onto Kalaheo, Kuaui, Hawaii and Elkton, Florida before ending their travels here in Louisville. She enjoyed pottery, art, curling up with a good book and watching Jeopardy and baseball. Marie made numerous friends wherever she called home. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, great mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved sharing her time with all. The love she gave will long outlast her time in this world, before her ascension to everlasting life, and will be treasured by all of those whose lives she has touched.
