Marie Miller

Marie Catherine Miller, 96, of Starlight, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Mercy Providence Retirement Home in New Albany, Indiana. Marie was raised and lived most of her life on the family farm, but she also had a career at Seinsheimer's in New Albany. She worked as the parish administrator for over 40 years at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Starlight, where her family was also founding members of the parish. Marie and her sister, Irene, were devoted to caring for their parents, sisters, nieces, and nephews.

She was born on December 6, 1914 to the late Louis B. and Anna M. (Yocum) Miller in Starlight. Marie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Irene Miller and Rita Geraghty; two infant brothers; niece, Margaret (Kruer) Schindler; nephew, Kenny Kruer; brothers-in-law, Virgil Weikel, Charlie Geraghty, Raymond Kruer, and Carl Popp.

Marie is survived by her loving sisters, Catherine Kruer of Starlight, Marcella Weikel of Louisville, Kentucky and Dolores Popp of Sellersburg, Indiana; 33 nieces and nephews; 57 great nieces and nephews; 46 great-great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great-great nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). A prayer service will be held Thursday at 4 PM at the funeral home. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, March 4 at St. John the Baptist Church in Starlight, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
