Marie Cordelia(Spalding) Wright

Marie Cordelia (Spalding) Wright, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on January 9, 2016. Marie was a member at Lincoln Hills United Methodist Church in English, Indiana. She sang in the choir and helped start the soup kitchen. Marie was a Girl Scout Leader of Troop #737 and worked as a drug technician for Taylor Drugs for many years. She also enjoyed reading and puzzles and was a great cook.

Marie was born on April 1, 1936, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Carl and Sarah (Green) Spalding. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Wright. She is survived by her daughters, Janet Drake (Doug) and Khris Matthews; siblings, Julia Gerry, Margaret Pavey, Louis Spalding (Vicki), George Spalding, and Joseph Spalding (Midge); grandchild, Sarah Matthews; many nieces and nephews; and her pet dog, Blaze.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana) with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
