Marianne Carr Shelton

Marianne Shelton, age 78, transitioned Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born April 02, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky to James L. and Hazel M. Carr. When Marianne was two, she moved to Greenville, Kentucky where she attended elementary and graduated in 1962 from Drakesboro Community High School and went on to attend Brescia College in Owensboro. She was a member of Green Castle Baptist Church and retired from Bakery Chef. Marianne lived a life of joy, generosity, and love for her family. She loved cooking and collecting recipes.

Marianne was preceded in death by her husband Herman C. Shelton Sr., son, Herman Jr. (April) and a daughter, Twyla Murphy James; and great-grandsons, Carlito Shelton and Carrtez Shelton.

Marianne is survived by her daughters, Mary, Carla (Kenny) and Janeen Shelton; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 am to 12pm on Friday, April 7, 2023 at Newcomer Cremations Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Marianne's life will be there at 12pm, followed by interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens East.
