Maria A. Clayton

Maria A. (Edwards) Clayton, 72, of Louisville, Kentucky, was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her. Her untimely passing on Thursday, February 29, 2024 has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of her loved ones.

She was born on December 13, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to John "Bud" Easton and Auweeta Williams. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Carolyn Easton, Gary Edwards, and Reginald Edwards Sr.

Maria is survived by her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Ronald Clayton; daughter, Alicia N. Clayton; grandchildren, Alexus Richardson, Anay Richardson, Nathaniel Richardson II, and Jasmine (Jermaine) Richardson-Jackson; great-grandchildren, Azai Johnson and Jayce Jackson; siblings, Yolanda Wilson, Trina Tinsley, Debbie Easton, Gerald Easton, Angela (Ron) Butler, Michelle (James) High, Heliose Smith, Natalie (Rickey) Arnold, Kenneth Easton, Pamela (George) Burks, Ricky (Natalie) Edwards, and Larry Edwards; and many nieces, nephews and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was a member of Bates Memorial Church and a proud alum of Louisville Male High School. She was a devoted advocate and certified counselor to women. She enjoyed baking and sharing delicious sweets with her family and friends.

She touched the hearts of so many lives with her kindness and compassion. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel seen and heard. Her presence brought warmth and joy wherever she went.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, at the funeral home.
