Marguerite E. Weis

May 7, 1938 — October 28, 2022

Marguerite E. "Peg" Weis, age 84 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022.Through years of health challenges, Peg was forever thankful to her Lord and Savior for each additional day with family and friends.

Peg was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Dalton High School in Dalton, MA, where she proudly carried the nickname "Rocky"—a nod to her maiden name Rocke. Over the years that followed, Peg grew her family to include five amazing children. As a travel agent, Peg loved what each travel opportunity provided and often took her children with her to share in the experience. Peg was very fond of adventure. She could be seen at a young age enjoying her motorcycle while riding with her local group, fondly called "The Outsiders". She equally loved horses and, when she eventually moved to Kentucky, was always drawn to areas surrounding Lexington to enjoy the landscape as much as she could. Peg also loved singing country music, yodeling, and playing her guitar.

She was often deeply integrated within her local community by starting various social groups or joining existing organizations and becoming a strong leader to ensure their success. Examples include participating in the American Cancer Society, Parents without Partners, and the Chamber of Commerce throughout most of her time in Delaware, Florida, and Kentucky. As she expanded her role as a travel agent, her journeys in this position took her through Delaware and Florida, where she began her own tour company, before settling in Louisville in 1997. As she began to plant roots in Louisville, she and her daughter Suzette founded Kentuckiana's first children's consignment business, which just celebrated its 25th anniversary. Peg was a staple within the business for almost 20 years. In parallel to this, she also evolved her love for sewing and began offering various seamstress services for weddings, graduations, proms, and other events. Through both her consignment and seamstress businesses, "Gramma Peg" has come to know numerous families and has watched so many children grow into adults.

Gramma Peg is survived by her loving children, daughter, Suzette Decker (Mark); son, Jay (Sherry) Weis; daughter-in-law, Dodie Hills; daughter, Lorrie (Mickey) Wheeler; brothers Robert & Kevin Rocke; grandchildren Allie (Austin) Konchar, Sam Decker, Mary (Ken) Guimond, Roger Hills, Josh and Kim Seale, Shawn and Brandon Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Samantha Guimond, Ava and Ella Shafer; and many, many life-long friends.

She is preceded in death by her sons Francis Hills, and Roger Hills; her parents, Marguerite (Murray) and Christopher Rocke; her siblings, Christopher, Daniel, and Michael and Connie Rocke, Darlene Hughes and Jacqueline Cole.
