Marguerite “Peggy” Anne Morgan, 81, of Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 under Hospice Care at Baptist Health Center.
Peggy was born December 1, 1942 in Louisville, the daughter of William B. Morgan and Jacqueline Bogenschutz Morgan. She graduated from JM Atherton High School, class of 1960 and loved going to their reunions. She went on to attend the University of Louisville where she was a cheerleader. Early in her career, Peggy worked for a law firm in New York. She returned to Louisville and worked several years in the corporate office of Kentucky Fried Chicken with John Y. Brown. She also worked for several years in the law firm of Wood, Doll, Greenbaum, Leatherman, Pedley, Solomon and Kusch. Peggy ultimately left Louisville, at the request of college friend, Senator Mitch McConnell to work for him in Washington, DC where she was his office manager and scheduler. Upon her retirement, she returned to Louisville to be with her family which meant everything to her. Peggy enjoyed life. She was adventurous, generous, and fun! She loved America, family, friends, children, books, nature, photography, her dog -Banjo, music, poetry, storytelling, and laughter. Most of all she loved Jesus. In times of celebration and in hardship, He has been her faithful companion. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church and was involved with BSF, Peacemakers ABF, Single Sisters, and several social and bible study groups.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by brother, Larry Morgan and sister, Debby Stettenbenz. She is survived by brother, Bill Morgan and wife Sharron; sisters, Sandy Weatherford, Pam Dowdle, and Linda Lofton and husband Rodger; and brother Todd Morgan. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Mary Arthur Morgan and several beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Southeast Christian Church Chapel in the Woods Campus, 1407 Moser Road, Louisville KY 40299. A celebration of her life will follow at 4:00 pm.
