Margaret Enos Steere, 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed on August 14, 2022. She was born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on November 14, 1932 to William and Virginia Enos and was raised alongside one sibling.
Margaret was a part of the Clifton Forge High School, Class of 1948. She was a first a teacher in Arlington, Virginia. Through her sister, she met the love of her life and they were married on June 28, 1957, David Alden Steere. She went on to attend James Madison College and achieved her Bachelors in Education and in New Jersey and taught elementary school. She then moved to Louisville, Kentucky to start her family, raising three children. Later, she went back to school to achieve her Master's in Social Work and practiced for 40 years in their family's practice.
Margaret was both caring and loving, volunteering her time to pour into others, affecting so many with nurturing nature. She was a member on the board of Planned Parenthood as well as many other charities. She stayed busy with her many interests and her growing family.
Margaret is preceded by her husband of an ongoing 65 years, David Steere; her parents, William and Virginia Enos, and her son-in-law, Peter Monroy. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Elizabeth Monroy, Andrew (Amanda Terry) Steere, and Tevis (Katherine) Steere; grandchildren, Sophie, Samuel, Hannah and Joseph Steere; and her sister, Sarah Enos Brown.
The family would like to say a special thank you to The Forum at Brookside most recently the ambassador suite staff, for your attentive care and consideration in Margaret's time at your facility. We are forever grateful for ensuring her health and quality of life.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243) from 11:00am – 1:00pm with service to follow at 1:00pm. Burial will take place following services at Cave Hill Cemetery (701 Baxter Ave, Louisville, KY 40204).
