Margaret Carl Siewert

September 11, 1940 — May 23, 2022

Margaret "Margie" Carl Vetter Siewert, 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022.

Margaret was born September 11th, 1940 along with her twin sister, Mary Alice. They were the daughters of Jeanne and Carl Vetter. They were brought home each in a shoe box as they were very tiny.

Margaret married Vernon Siewert in 1961. They went by the names Vernie and Margie. They had three children, Mary Jeanne, Michael and Susan. As a young family, they went on many adventures together. They had a series of camping trailers and many weekends in the summer they would be trekking around the United States seeing new sights. Margie managed a strict household and us children always towed the line. She taught us early on what was right and wrong and she expected us to do our best. As a family we would also cut lawns for people to make extra cash to fund a summer vacation. We bonded as a family as dad would mow, The kids would trim and mom would sweep. Mom and dads work ethic was strong and they instilled that into their children.

Margie was a woman of her time. She had a voice and she used it. Her nickname on the CB radio was big mouth. She was honest and to the point. She made her presence known and everyone always knew where they stood with her. She loved deeply and passionately. She was a fighter and would stand up for whatever she believed in. She loved to read books. She was highly intelligent and loved to sit in bed at night with a bowl of popcorn and a big thick juicy book. She loved true crime TV shows. She could always pick out the culprit before it was announced. Of course she could always spot a fake. Margie enjoyed her needlework. She would sew Barbie clothing for her kids and for many years loved cross stitch. In her later years she enjoyed dot painting and working puzzles.

Margie had six grandchildren, Phillip Cassidy, Amanda Rahm, Joanna Bruner, Michaela Korson, D.J Bruner and Thomas Bruner. They will miss their feisty grandma! We will miss her spunk and energy.

Margie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Vernie, their children, Mary Jeanne (David) Korson, Michael (Justin Resley) Siewert, Susan (Donnie) Bruner, twin sister Mary Russell (Stanley) and five grandchildren. Preceding Margie were her parents and her granddaughter, Joanna.

To know her was to love her and we loved her very much. We are thankful for the memories we have of our Margie.
