Marcie Kay (Deckard) Chavez

Marcie Kay (Deckard) Chavez, 41, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and passionate about her career with the Veterans Administration. Advocating for and helping veterans brought Marcie great joy. Marcie enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, whom she loved deeply. A three-time Iron woman, Marcie had several other interests that included DIY projects around the house, Care Bears, sipping on wine and going shopping.

She was born on July 26, 1982 in Louisville, Kentucky to Virgil "Lynn" and Cindy (Phillipy) Deckard. Along with her parents, Marcie is survived by her husband, Miguel Chavez; children, Joslyn Jaramillo, Estrella Jaramillo, Xander Jaramillo, Jayden Chavez; siblings, Valerie Deckard, Chad Deckard (fiancé, Jessica Whitlow); nieces and nephews, Dalton Deckard, Tyler Chadwell, Ashlynn Deckard and Everlynn Deckard.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in New Albany.
