Marcella Louise (Kirchgessner) Graf, 89, of Memphis, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023. She had a lifelong track record for being a hard worker, having been a seamstress for several years at M.F. & Sons in New Albany before going to work at General Electric in Louisville and retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. Marcella had also been a salesperson for Tupperware and enjoyed working alongside her late husband, Ted, working in the fields and selling produce from the family farm at the local markets. She was a talented cake decorator and quilter and liked to crochet.
She was born on February 13, 1934, to Emil, Sr., and Irene (Missi) Kirchgessner. In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; children, Randy Graf and Donna Jackson; daughter-in-law, Cindy (Sams) Graf; and siblings, Emil, Jr., Edward, and Clifford Kirchgessner.
Marcella is survived by her children, Rick Graf (Cathy), Becky Mayfield (Danny), and Ray Graf (Becky Ann); daughter-in-law, Mary Graf Book (John); son-in-law, Bryan Jackson; siblings, Al Kirchgessner (Betty), Millie Fessel, and Martha Rhoades; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Joe Hill Chapel, 2605 W. St. Joe Road, Sellersburg) with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
