Mamie L. (Brown) Stubbins, 84, of New Albany, Indiana answered the call of her Heavenly Father and entered into eternal rest and peace on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the home of her sister in Jeffersonville. She retired from Indiana Bell and was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in New Albany.
Mamie was born on August 27, 1927 to the late B.B. and Elnora B. Brown. She was the widow of Norman A. Stubbins, Sr. Mamie was also preceded in death by her sisters, Vergie Mae Brown, Beatrice E. Brown-Jemerson, and Vivian B. Head-Taylor.
She is survived by her sisters, Nelsine Baines (Frank), Rosie Head; step-daughter, Francis Parks (Larry), step-son, Norman A. Stubbins, Jr. (Doris). She will be missed by a host of brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves to mourn her passing several very special friends, her Church family, and bingo buddies.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday from 11 AM to 1 PM at Bethel A.M.E. Church (315 E. 5th Street, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be at 1 PM on Thursday at the church with burial to follow at West Haven Cemetery in New Albany.
