Mae "Belle" (Deckard) Alford, 77, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. Belle was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Louisville. She was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed participating in the homemakers club, crafts, and gardening. Above all else Belle loved the Lord and her family.
Belle was born on January 16, 1933 in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Fred and Lillie "Mae" (Webb) Deckard. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Linda Faye Alford; brothers, James "Monk" Deckard, Joe Deckard; sisters, Mary Wood, and Marie Young.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Alford; daughters, Pam Willis and her husband, Leon of Midland, Michigan; Debbie Beckham and her husband, Larry of Floyds Knobs; Sharon Thompson and her husband, Rondal Jr. of Floyds Knobs; son, David Alford and his wife, Judi of Fredericksburg, Virginia; sisters, Ruby Wilson of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Jean Stephens and her husband, Gus of Round Hill, Kentucky; grandchildren, Trevis (Nicole) Willis, Rachel (Curt) Grubb, Margaret (Lonnie) Lamp, Michelle (Pedro) Espinoza, Jennifer (Eric) Huggins, Linda Thompson, and Stephen Thompson; great-grandchildren, Parker Willis, Lillie Willis, Caden Grubb, Keira Grubb, Ethan Lamp, and Eli Lamp; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150) and from 9 to 11 on Saturday, December 11, 2010. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Green River Union Cemetery in Richardsville, Kentucky at approximately 1:30 CST.
