Madonna "Donnie" Tischendorf, age 59 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024. Madonna, or Donnie as she was known by those who loved her, was most well-known for her smile, her ability to make everyone laugh, and her quick wit. She will also be remembered for her love of sports and her passion for helping others. She served as an ECE Instructional Assistant at the Binet School in JCPS for the past 12 years. "Ms. Donnie" was most known for loving the kids and keeping a smile on everyone's face. She previously worked at Wal-Mart in Middletown and Smith's Laminating in Mt. Washington. "Mad Dog" played softball and basketball for Mercy Academy, where she graduated in 1982, and went on to play softball for Bellarmine College. She enjoyed watching all sports on TV, and she also had a routine to watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every day at 7 p.m. She loved the Louisville Cardinals, and also was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Boston Red Sox, and The Ohio State University, among others. She always loved an obscure team name, and loved cheering for the underdogs. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Tischendorf; and her grandparents, Thomas and Ida Dugan and Maurice Sr. and Georgia Tischendorf.
Donnie is survived by her partner of 12 years, Ashley Sidebottom, and her son Nathaniel Zsedenyi; her mother, Patricia Tischendorf; two sisters, Marlyce Tischendorf and Melissa Tischendorf Luciano; a brother, Maurice Tischendorf (Bonnie); two nieces, Taylor Tischendorf (Tory) and Kiaya Sinclair (Lane); two nephews, Blake Stewart and Justin Tischendorf; 6 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be 1pm to 5pm on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40243. A celebration of Donnie's life will be 5pm at the funeral home. A reception will follow at 6:30pm at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in the Parish Center, 6500 St Bernadette Ave, Prospect, KY 40059.
A burial service will take place at 1pm on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family to benefit students at the Binet School.
Donnie's service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
