Mabel I. (Mills) Sifers, 92, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 after a long illness at Wedgewood Nursing Home. She was a member of VFW 1693 Auxiliary & American Legion Post 28 Auxiliary.
She was born in Syracuse, New York to the late William & Nellie (Champion) Mills. Mabel is survived by her husband of 69 years, Harry M. Sifers; daughters, Kay Shelton & Lucy Fentress both of New Albany; son, Ronald Sifers (Kimmy) of Jeffersonville; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and sister, Millie Green. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be from 1 PM to 6 PM Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home with burial to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
