Luther "Bud" Leffler, Jr., 94, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II. Bud worked for many years for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the American Legion Post 379 in Elizabeth, and the VFW Post 3281 and the 40 & 8 Voiture 1250, both in New Albany. Bud will be remembered for his love of playing Euchre.
He was born on December 26, 1924, in Evans Landing, Indiana, to the late Luther Leffler, Sr., and Carrie (Mason) McKinney. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Allie (Edmonson) Leffler; son, Luther Keith Leffler; twin brother, Lawrence "Dutch" Leffler; and sister, Madeline Hottle.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Marsha Sowders; grandchildren, Kirk Sowders, Clinton Sowders, and Rita "Susie" Cates (Jody); 4 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; niece, Karen Gehlbach; and nephew, Greg Hottle.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Evans Landing Cemetery in Elizabeth.
