On December 4, 2022, Luetta Gay (McDaniel) Peters left this earth to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. She was born in English, Indiana, on September 4, 1944. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Cyrus and Ruah Bea McDaniel; and her brother, Carol McDaniel. Luetta is survived by her husband and caregiver, C. Donald Peters; her daughter, Robin Durham (Doug); sons, Randy Kahl and David Peters; daughter, Elizabeth Fonda (Todd); brothers, Ronald McDaniel (Oleta) and Larry McDaniel; and her grandchildren, Katie Pfannmoeller, Nicholas Pfannmoeller, Andrew Durham, Taylor Peters, Noah Fonda, Jonathan Fonda, Jordan Fonda, and Carly Fonda.
Luetta lived in southern Indiana most of her adulthood, except for 8 years in Florida. She graduated from New Albany High School and retired from American Commercial Barge Line.
Luetta loved to travel. She and Don visited all 50 states and 12 foreign countries. She was an avid quilter, making over 100 quilts. Luetta made quilts for family and friends but most were for charity. She won awards for her quilts. Her favorite quilt was made with fabric from dresses from her Aunt Luly and grandmother, Etta, who she was named after.
Luetta loved her church, Georgetown Christian Church (Indiana) and New Day Christian (Florida). She was part of several teams working behind the scenes to support the church. Luetta attended a weekly Bible study and assisted Don with his position as Deacon.
