Lucy Lee (Gade) Phillips, born to Alfred Marion Gade and Virginia Ruth (Stiles) Gade in Frankfurt, Germany on May 19, 1956, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 10:02 pm surrounded by family. She entered the presence of her Savior walking, pain free, and fully restored.
She is preceded in death by her mom and dad. She is survived by her four children: Christopher (Kathy) Brown, Sara Morris, Amy (TJ) Smith, and Ashley (Steven) Couch; Her eight grandchildren: Ara (Jordan), Corran, Adilynn, Andrew, Ellis, Noah, Daisy and Reed; Her great-granddaughter Braelynn; Her three siblings: Sharon (Gerald) Kordes, Catherine (John) Hunt, and Larry (Vicki) Gade; Her nieces and nephew: Alicia Cooper, Julie Herrin, Jennifer Gade, and Matthew Gade; as well as extended family and friends.
In her 62 years on earth, she had a hell of a run. Regardless of the path she was on she was always extremely funny, loved a good joke, was always dedicated, surprisingly handy, and very intelligent. She was ultimately the glue that solidified the foundation of our family.
Up until her stroke in October 2017, she worked at Radial (formerly GSI). She spent 17.5 years there and she loved her job, she loved being a supervisor, and she loved the people she worked with and the people that worked for her. If the past year and a half has shown her family anything, it's that the job and the people she loved, and loved to bitch about, sure as hell loved her back.
She loved sleepovers with the grandkids and family get togethers, but she didn't mind ushering us out the door so she could enjoy a cheap bottle of wine.
She could fix your water pump, fix you lasagna, or fix you some of her world-famous dip.
Her bathroom habits were the stuff of legend in spite of her proclivity for an estimated 52.9 pounds of cheese consumption a year.
Speaking of cheese, she loved shopping and spending money. She loved Target and threw a bit of a fit when they didn't have popcorn ready to go. She was always down to get her hair and nails done, especially in preparation for an international flight, a trip to the beach, or a trip to the Valley Station McDonald's for a sweet tea with light ice and some fries - where she'd have enough time sitting in the drive thru to listen to her latest CD on repeat.
As we search for the clichés to put into words the life of a woman who is so near and dear to all of our hearts, we hope that others will cling to the memories they shared with our mother, and remember her infectious smile and laughter. She will be greatly missed and always loved. Her memory will live on in her children, especially her favorite - Christopher; Sara; Amy; Ashley? Who are we kidding? Her son in law, Steven, was and always will be her favorite. After all, he was the only one willing to pick her up out of the floor after she had the stroke, she was sure was caused by Donald Trump.
In the words of our mother, "Hey Donald Trump, STROKE THIS!"
