Lowell Wayne Harper, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this world on October 26, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on June 22, 1937, in Beallsville, Ohio.
As a proud veteran of the United States Navy, Wayne exemplified dedication and commitment-not only to his country but also to his family and community. After the military he worked for Foremost, Knudsen & Kraft where he retired in 1993 and moved to Louisville, Kentucky from California. He and his loving wife of 67 years, Deanne Harper, created a legacy of warmth and togetherness that will resonate through their family for generations. His joy in being surrounded by loved ones, particularly his grandchildren, defined his happiest moments. Each laugh-filled gathering was a testament to the bond he fostered with those around him. His children, Cary (Marilyn) Harper and Jennifer (Scott) Anderson, along with his grandchildren, Amanda Harper, Katie (Ross) Mayfield, Erin Harper (Scott), William Anderson, and Morgan (Jared) Ostrader were truly the lights of his life. Even more so, the arrival of his great-grandchildren-Brooklyn, Lincoln, Juniper, Mason, and Beckham-brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Wayne enjoyed some of the simple pleasures in life. He delighted in watching television, particularly game shows that sparked his competitive spirit and brought smiles to his face. A devoted baseball enthusiast, he was a loyal fan of both the Dodgers and the Cubs.
Beyond his personal interests, Wayne's heart was drawn towards helping others. He spent time volunteering in many capacities, embodying kindness and generosity in every endeavor.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Harper and Genevieve Storer, and his beloved sister, Connie Hanood. Their memories and the values they instilled in him live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
As we remember Lowell Wayne Harper, we celebrate a life richly lived, filled with love, laughter, and a profound commitment to family. His spirit will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him, forever reminding us of the beauty in family connections and the power of kindness. Cremation was chosen following Wayne's wishes and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
