Louis Patton Spalding, 83, of Pekin, Indiana, passed away on Friday evening, February 25, 2022. He was an avid hunter and a great storyteller and had a lifelong career as a horse farrier. Louie was a member of Masonic Lodge #66 in Milltown, Indiana.
He was born on May 24, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Carl and Lena (Green) Spalding. In addition to his parents, Louie was preceded in death by his sisters, Norma, Margaret, Hazel, and Marie; and brothers, J.D., James, Pete, and George.
Louie is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Vickie (Kershner) Spalding; children, Kay Geswein (Mike), Patty Crotchett, Jo Puckett (Kevin), and Bucky Spalding (Shelley); sister, Julia Gerry; brother, Alfred Spalding (Midge); grandchildren, Aspen Kirchgessner, Alexis Puckett, Aubryn Crotchett, Kaden Puckett, and Tegan and Tinsley Spalding; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his funeral service taking place at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Louie's memory may be made to the Washington County Humane Society (204 W. Joseph Street, Salem, IN 47167) or to the Eastern High School Band (1100 N. Eastern School Road, Pekin, IN 47165).
