Loretta Theresa (Banet) Atkins

Loretta Theresa (Banet) Atkins, 93, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Loretta was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. She will be remembered for her caring heart and as the devoted matriarch of her family.

She was born on November 8, 1928, in Floyds Knobs, Indiana, to the late Raymond "Dudley" and Flora (Sprigler) Banet. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Atkins; son, Marvin "Dean" Atkins; and brothers, Raymond "Junie" Banet, Jr., Jerry Banet, and Elston Banet.

Loretta is survived by her loving son, Allan "Neal" Atkins; daughter, Brenda (Michael) Jones; siblings, Edmund "Joe" Banet, Venita Lynch, Franklin (Frances) Banet, and David (Ann) Banet; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church (5719 Saint Mary's Rd, Floyds Knobs, IN) with burial to follow at the church cemetery.
