Lonnie R. Poole, Jr.
November 17, 1925 — February 28, 2014
Lonnie Roston Poole, Jr. passed away in San Antonio, Texas February 28, 2014. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on November 17, 1925.
He joined his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Jo Cardwell Poole; parents, Lonnie and Louise Rowe Poole; brothers, Vigil, Mack, Richard and Jessie Poole; and grandson, Gregory Poole, who all preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sons, Lonnie III "Skip" (Melinda), Donald (Mary), and Charles (Rosemary); and by his daughter, Vickie Jo Anslinger (Larry). Also surviving are grandchildren, Brent and Scott Poole, Stacey Teixeira, Ken Behm Jr., Kelly Gousset, Donald Poole Jr., Kim Woosley, Matthew Hoferkamp, Trinya Smith, Corie Joe Anslinger, their spouses, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Lonnie served in the Navy in World War II and was employed for 33 years at the Louisville Works of E. I. DuPont.
Heartfelt thanks go to the care providers at the South Texas VA Medical Center, especially his Home Based Primary Care Team, the staff of Arden Courts in San Antonio for their always loving and professional care, and to Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin, Texas for their compassionate assistance.
Family services will be private with interment with his loving wife Mary Jo at Resthaven Cemetery. Louisville services will be under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations made to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
