There is a time for everything according to the Solomon preacher in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 3.
A time to be born, Lois Hancock Brown was born April 3, 1933 to the proud parents of Odell Green and Alphia Amelia Mayfield Hancock in Madison County, Georgia.
A time to plant meaning a time to sow. Lois sowed many seeds, touching many lives in her lifetime. Lois taught school in a one room school house and sang in the choir at Tabors Chapel AME church, Ila, Georgia. She brought forth into this world 6 bundles of joy, Lucille, Tommy, Tony, James Lee, Otis, and Arnella.
A time to pluck up what is planted. Lois was encouraged and decided to leave home to follow her older sister, Alberta to Louisville, Kentucky where she has lived for all of her adult life. She found love and married Jimmy Brown and settled down to make a happy home. She was an excellent cook. She joined Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail.
A time to get. She worked at Executive Inn for 30 years as a cook.
A time to lose. She retired in 2000 and started a new chapter in her life.
A time to weep. Lois wept many tears over 3 of her children, Tommy, Otis, Arnella, who preceded her in death. The last girl of 12 siblings, Mary, Claude, Andrew, Alberta, James, Horace, Johnnie Mae, Addie, Ralph and Frank. She is survived by one brother, Velous of Jefferson, Georgia.
A time to laugh. Lois had a sweet laugh and would share it often.
A time to love. Lois loved well. She loved the Lord and she loved her family.
