Lloyd Dale Whitson

Lloyd "Dale" Whitson, 93, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022. He was a longtime performer at the Corydon Jamboree and South Boston Jamboree and on the air for the Salem and WBRO radio stations. Dale also shared his talents at many local churches and performed with The Broken Hearts Band at several area nursing homes.

He was born on November 11, 1929, in Borden, Indiana, to Emerson and Nola (Waggoner) Whitson. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheri Whitson; siblings, Bryce Whitson, Mary Ruth Wagner, and Robert McDaniel.

Dale is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Florence (Martin) Whitson; children, Grant Whitson, Theresa Spengler, Gregory Whitson, Brent Whitson (April), and Rebekah "Becky" Million; sisters, Linda Cook and Helen Holstner; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his family and friends; Dale will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. His funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with burial to follow at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
