Lloyd E. Dean, 82, of Louisville, widow of Linda Mae Tracy Dean, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. Born in Long Lane, Missouri on October 30, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Dean.
He was retired after a 22 year career in the FBI, where he held numerous investigative, management and executive positions.
He served five years as a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he was also a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, and served in the Dominican Republic.
During his FBI Career he specialized in investigations of Foreign and Domestic Terrorism and Bombing Matters. He has had assignments to FBI field offices in Seattle, Chicago and Miami, Florida and as FBI Liaison to Bermuda, Jamaica, Bahama Islands and the Cayman Islands. His assignments include nine years at FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C., as the FBI's Security Officer with responsibility for Personnel, Document and Physical Security and as a visiting instructor at the FBI Academy. He directed background investigations for the White House on Presidential appointees as well as adjudicated Security Clearances. Mr. Dean served on the U.S. Attorney General's "Committee for National Security Matters" and on the CIA's "Director of Central Intelligence Committee on International Security". He is a graduate of the Executive Development Institute and the Brookings Institute on National Policy. He retired from the FBI in 1990 as Special Agent in Charge and member of the Senior Executive Service. Most importantly, he was a follower and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, and he modeled this in his everyday life as a husband, father and friend.
He was a member of St. Francis in the Fields, and previously Southeast Christian Church.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Jennie Pryor (Tre); four grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin, Barret and Ellery Pryor; and his brothers, Ron (Marilyn), Don (Diane) and Garry Dean.
A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
