LINDA SUE GUTGSELL GARRETT, age 58, of Louisville, passed away on August 29, 2012, after her courageous battle against acute myeloid leukemia. Linda dedicated her life to the service of family and others. She was a devoted, empathetic, and remarkable LPN for 32 years. She continually expressed her deep love of family through acts of kindness, selflessness, and support. She adored her grandsons, Wyatt and Elijah, her pets, gardening, and the beach.
Nicholas B. Garrett, her husband of 32 years died September 22, 2012.
Linda is preceded in death by her father, Edward Gutgsell and sister, Rebecca Gutgsell Perry. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Gutgsell; siblings Leo (Cathy) Gutgsell and Tom Gutgsell; children, Brittney Star Garrett (Jeff Thomas) and Nicholas August Garrett (Tiffany Marlett); and grandsons Elijah and Wyatt.
The family expresses its deep gratitude for the compassionate and extraordinary care the doctors, nurses, and aides of U of L Hospital 6E/BMT extended to Linda.
A dual celebration of Linda and Nick's lives will be held Sunday, September 30th, from 2 to 6 p.m., at the Cornerstone Cottage, 3799 Bardstown Road, Louisville KY., with a Remembrance Service at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her honor be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
