Strepey, Linda Gail Brown, 67, died peacefully at home on December 16, 2013.
Linda was born in Bell County, KY on October 18, 1946. She moved to Louisville with her family when she was eight years old. As a teenager, Linda was musically inclined. She took piano lessons, wrote and recorded songs with another girl who sang with her in the school choir. Her choir conductor encouraged her to take singing lessons.
Linda graduated from Valley High in 1964 and completed a degree at Spencerian College. She worked as executive secretary in several local business and government agencies until her retirement. She then moved in with her mother and was, until her mother's death, her devoted companion and caregiver. Linda, her mother, and sister enjoyed regular weekend trips to outlet malls, art fairs, and family gatherings.
Linda is survived by her sister, Catherine Sue (Leonard) Salings; nieces, Holly (James) Almon and Tammy Scriber; great nieces Katherine, Jayme, and Morganne Almon; great nephews Tyler and Justin Scriber; her dear uncle and his wife, John and Clara Wilder, all of Louisville; her aunts Lucille Wilder Harris of Corbin and Pauline Wilder of Burlington, KY; and many cousins, especially Lola Moran, who was her lifetime friend and confidant.
Visitation with Linda's family will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Monday December 23, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). Cremation will follow.
