Linda "Kathy" Welch

Linda "Kathy" Welch, 72, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Kathy was a retired elementary teacher for Galena Elementary for over 33 years, retiring in 2004. She enjoyed woodworking and crafts, but most of all, spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was born on November 29, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Frank and Theresa (Hale) Peel. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Welch in 2020.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Dee Dee (Todd) Mix; son, Rob (Tari) Welch; sister, Barbara (Ron) Warncke; grandson, Joshua (Jessica Suhr) Mix; grandson, Justin Mix; great-grandson, Otis Mixsuhr; nephew, Trent (Melissa) Warncke; and niece, Heather (Adrianne) Warncke.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a Funeral Ceremony at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany (3309 Ballard Lane). Burial to follow services at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Starlight, Indiana.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Silvercrest for their wonderful care of Kathy in her last days.

The family requests that contributions in Kathy's memory be made to Harrison County Animal Shelter.
