Brooks, Lillian Delores, 80, of Louisville, passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, May 7, 2023. Born February 9, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lillian Williams.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph Williams, Stanley Williams, Stallard Williams, Vernon Williams, Bernice Hayden and Eugenia Moore.
She did many things in life, from bus driver, crossing guard, and caregiver. She was baptized at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church and a dedicated member of Green Castle Baptist Church, where she served as the first female trustee, and was active for over 50 years in her church. She was an avid walker, where she loved walking in Seneca Park. At the age of 69, she completed her first mini marathon, the 2012 Kentucky Derby Festival mini Marathon. She also loved to write poetry, and in 1987, her book of poems, 'Poems of Life' was published. But most importantly, she was loved and was devoted to her family.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, James F. Brooks Jr. (Doris), Lillian L. Brooks, Patricia A. Brooks and Samuel E. Brooks (Gabrielle); five grandchildren, Corey J. Brooks, Brandon D. Brooks, Steven D. Adams, Josiah S. Brooks and Samiyah Marie Brooks; six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Luvenia Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at Green Castle Baptist Church, 4970 Murphy Lane, Louisville KY 40241. A Funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Louisville Memorial Gardens.
