Lewis Ambrose Bierman

Lewis A. Bierman, 86, of Greenville, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. He was a retired contractor and a United States Army veteran. Lewis enjoyed traveling, selling his worldly treasures, and could easily be described as a people person.

Lewis was born on April 30, 1927 in Floyd County, Indiana to the late Arthur and Lillian (Banet) Bierman. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marcellus and Arthur Bierman, Jr.

He is survived by his children, David Bierman (Laura), Daniel Bierman (Cheri), Margaret Brethauer (Russell), Barbara Rainbolt (Steve), Sandy Hunt, and Brooke Bierman; siblings, Merrel Bierman (Thelma), Patsy Elger, Frank Bierman (June); 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 1 PM to 8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Friday after 11 AM. His Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 1 PM in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will take place at a later date at the New Albany National Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hosparus – the Community Hospice of Southern Indiana (624 East Market Street, New Albany).
