Leslie Albert Talbott was born February 24, 1936 to Roy and Alberta Talbott. He spent his days as a young man delivering newspapers along with his father and brothers.
In 1953, Leslie graduated from Central High School. Majoring in math, he attended the University of Louisville from 1953 to 1957 and then began working as a research assistant at the U of L Medical School. He spent six months in active military duty between Fort Knox, KY and Fort Chaffee, AK followed by six years in the Kentucky Army National Guard. Leslie was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity.
Through the 1960s and early 1970s, he was a chemist at Girdler Catalyst and also worked in sales. He began his career as a Jefferson County youth probation officer in 1974 and retired from the same position with the State of Kentucky in 2004.
His favorite pastimes were music, photography - especially at family reunions - collecting Black history memorabilia, and traveling. He began traveling extensively around 1980, visiting all 50 states as well as Russia, countries in Europe, and the Middle East.
Leslie is survived by his former wife, Geraldine; daughters, Terry and Averelle; son, Jeffrey (Torra), grandson, Steven; sisters Mary Etta Madison and Betty Ann Springfield (Tony). Leslie also leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
He is preceded by his parents and siblings Richard, Eugene, Clyde, Melvin (Vivian), and Hattie.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Out of caution regarding Covid, there will not be a repast. Attendees will be asked to wear a mask during indoor services.
Family request that Memorials in Leslie's memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or can send Flowers.
