Leroy Simmons was born on June 8, 1945, to the late John Henry and Willie Bell Simmons, in Louisville, Kentucky, and resided in the Smoketown Area of Louisville, Kentucky.
Leroy attended Old Central High School, and joined the United States Navy in 1964,
and the moved to serve in the United States Air Force. Leroy accepted Christ and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church, where he attended faithfully for many years.
Leroy was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Simmons, mother, Willie Bell Simmons; sister, Corrine Hazelwood and brother, James Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Twyana Burris; grandsons, Nicol Mulligan, Jr. and David Burris, Jr.; sisters, Elinor Johnson, Patricia Sloss, Mary Lewis (Charles) Trowell , Delores (Lorenzo) Jackson; brothers, Thomas Jones; Vincent (Yolanda) Simmons; Edward Lee (Corrine) Simmons, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Satruday, April 20, 2019, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1349 Catalpa Street, Louisville, KY from 10am-11:30am with a celebration of Leroy's life beginning at 11:30am.
Burial will be Monday, April 22, 2019 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY beginning at 1pm.
